We are inviting applications to fill the post of Locum Registrar (ST3+) at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in Department of Vascular Surgery based at Leeds General Infirmary. The initial post is available from 1st June 2024 – 31st September 2024 (4 months) with a potential opportunity to extend this.Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will join a dynamic team working in a busy tertiary referral centre for vascular surgery, where exceptional clinical experience in both elective (OP clinics and inpatient and day case vascular surgery) and emergency (on the out of hours rota for vascular and trauma, at StR3+ level) surgery can be gained.About usThe Leeds Vascular Institute is based at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and serves a local population of 780,000. There are many supra-regional and regional services at LTHT which is the hub site for the Central Yorkshire Vascular and Endovascular Network. The West Yorkshire Trauma Network covers a population of 2.3 million. This 1103 bed hospital is based in the centre of Leeds and has an international reputation for its expertise in a range of specialist services for which the hospital is a regional centre. Job responsibilitiesLeeds Vascular Institute (LVI) was formed in 2005 with the merger of previously independent units at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and St James University Hospital (SJUH) and provides both secondary and tertiary vascular services for the region, including a supra-regional paediatric vascular service. In 2013 the LTHT formed a vascular partnership with the Mid-Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust and all elective and emergency inpatient vascular surgery for the two Trusts is carried out at the LGI.The surgeons of the LVI are responsible for the early management of abdominal and thoracic trauma for the Leeds Major Trauma Centre, supported by the general and thoracic surgeons from SJUH when necessary. The Leeds Vascular Institute is based at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) and serves a population of 780,000. There are many supra-regional and regional services at LTHT which also require vascular surgical input.LGI is a 1103 bed hospital based in the centre of Leeds and has an international reputation for its expertise in a range of specialist services for which the hospital is a regional centre. Central to the site is the Jubilee Building, which contains many services dedicated to helping critically ill patients including those with major trauma, brain injury and heart disease. The Trauma & Related Services directorate (of which LVI is a part) provides care for approximately 20,000 in-patients and 110,000 out-patients on an annual basis. Clinical duties include ward management of inpatients, elective inpatient and day-case operating, supervised outpatient clinics (with opportunity to attend specialist and general clinics) and attending the MDTs (general and specialist) and participating in the vascular surgical and major trauma acute out-of-hours rota.Person Specification
