We have been working in Nigeria since 2017. In Northeast Nigeria and more specifically in Borno, Taraba and Adamawa States, MI is currently active in the WASH, Protection and FNSL sectors for saving and improving the lives of both the IDP/refugee populations as well as the host communities. The WASH activities focus on improved access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene which include NFI distribution, solarization of boreholes, rehabilitation of hand pumps, construction of latrines and hygiene promotion. The protection activities focus on prevention and response to Gender Based Violence (GBV) cases. The Food Nutrition Security and Livelihood interventions mainly focus on micro gardening, pullet rearing for egg production, composting and Nutrition (food demonstration, referrals of malnutrition cases to nutrition partners, and sensitization on nutrition. For its work in Maiduguri, Nigeria, Malteser International is looking for a motivated Logistics Assistant – National Position.
Under the direct supervision of the Logistic Manager, the Logistics Assistant will provide support in various logistical tasks to ensure smooth operations of the program office. These responsibilities will revolve around; Warehousing, Assets and Facilities and Fleets Management.
Your responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the organization’s fleet of vehicles, including scheduling maintenance, ensuring compliance with regulations, coordinating repairs, scheduling inspections, and tracking vehicle usage and overseeing vehicle assignments of drivers.
- Ensure adequate and professional supervision and management of the drivers
- Oversee warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and distributing materials, and products, inventory control and maintenance, including tracking asset usage, conducting regular inspections, coordinating asset repairs or replacements, order fulfilment, and maintaining a safe and organised warehouse environment.
- Manage asset tracking and maintenance, ensuring all assets are accounted for, properly maintained, and utilised effectively within the organisation.
- Provide support in procurement processes and any other related duties assigned by the line manager
- Filling of logistic documents and monthly reports on (Generator, Stock and Vehicle) conditions
Your profile:
- University Degree in Business Administration, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or equivalent.
- Professional qualification in logistics, fleets, assets, warehousing or equivalent is a plus
- Minimum of 3 years working experience in logistics, warehousing, fleet, assets, or related fields.
- Experience in humanitarian interventions and development programs.
- Proficiency in report writing.
- Experience in planning and managing procurements.
- Only applicants who are indigenes of Borno State will be considered for this position.
What we offer:
- Start Date: September 2024
- Duty Station: Maiduguri, Borno State Nigeria
- Duration of contract: 18 months renewable
- Salary expectation: Salary according to qualification and experience, including insurance package
