LSE is committed to building a diverse, equitable and truly inclusive universityDepartment of International HistoryLSE Fellow in Twentieth Century HistorySalary from £42,679 to £51,000 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £54,730 inclusive of London allowanceThis is a career development position and is fixed term for two years.An LSE Fellowship is intended to be an entry route to an academic career and is deemed by the School to be a career development position. As such, applicants who have already been employed as an LSE Fellow for three years in total are not eligible to apply. If you have any queries about this, please contact the HR Division.The postholder will have completed or be close to completing a PhD in Twentieth Century International History by the post start date and will have relevant teaching experience and have expertise in the history of international relations and decision-making in the twentieth century; a very good knowledge of the history of the Soviet Union/Russia and the history of Eastern and Southeastern Europe in the same period; a developing research record in the field; excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to work in close partnership with fellow teachers, as well as on a one-on-one basis with students and in small groups, and to provide effective support, as necessary. The ability to supervise and mark dissertations and assessments at both undergraduate and postgraduate level is also required. Previous use of Virtual Learning Environment would be desirable.The postholder will be required to teach the following courses:(Please click on the links below for further information)At undergraduate level:At postgraduate level:The postholder will contribute to the scholarship and intellectual life of the School by conducting teaching and research which will enhance the School’s reputation as a research-led teaching institution, with appropriate mentoring from the Department. They will be expected to participate in teaching up to a maximum of six classroom contact hours per week.
