We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Natural Resources team
based in Exeter. Joining us on a full-time permanent basis, you will receive a
competitive salary of £38,000 – £42,000 plus excellent benefits.
In the role of Mainstreaming Nature Based Solutions Project Manager your primary responsibility
will be to lead the development of catchment and nature-based solutions for wastewater
improvements, as part of the SWW Green First program. Initially, you will be working as the SWW
Project Manager on the CaSTCo Project, an Ofwat Innovation project. Your role will involve
overseeing the implementation of this project and ensuring its successful outcomes. Alongside this
project, you will also be involved in the development of other projects aligned within the SWW
Green First program, including another Ofwat funded Partnership delivered project “Mainstreaming
Nature Based Solutions” . This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to sustainable and
environmentally friendly solutions for wastewater management.

- Our Green First approach sets a statement of intent to consider nature-based delivery
approaches initially for all our solutions. Our Green First approach sets out our intention
to deliver 50% the flow reductions required to reduce spills through blue and green
solutions such as surface water separation, of which some will be nature-based solutions
and SuDS. Green First is a completely new approach for our business and one that we know
our stakeholders and regulators are watching with interest. - The CASTCO Tamar+ Demo project is part of the larger CaSTCO programme led by the Rivers
Trust and United Utilities. Delivery in the Tamar is led by SWW working with University of
Exeter (UoE) and Westcountry Rivers Trust (WRT). The principle outputs is a nature based
solutions model for use in reducing rural surface catchment flows impacting waste water
networks
What you’ll be doing:
- Overall, your role as Project Manager will be to lead, manage, and coordinate projects
that focus on nature-based solutions for wastewater improvements, contributing to the
overall sustainability and environmental goals of the organization. - Managing the CaSTCo Project: As the SWW Project Manager for the CaSTCo Project, you
will oversee all aspects of the project, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource
allocation. You will work closely with stakeholders, contractors, and team members to
ensure the project’s objectives are met. - Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders: You will engage with various
stakeholders to gather input, build partnerships, and ensure alignment with project goals.
Effective communication and relationship management skills are crucial in this role. - Monitoring project progress and performance: You will establish metrics and key
performance indicators to track the progress of the project. Regular monitoring and
reporting on project milestones, budget, and quality standards will be essential to ensure
project success. - Managing project risks and issues: You will identify potential risks and develop risk
mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions. Additionally, you will address any
issues or challenges that arise during the project and take appropriate actions to keep it
on track. - Contributing to the SWW Green First program: Alongside the CaSTCo Project, you will be
involved in the development of other outcomes within the SWW Green First program. This may
include participating in program planning, evaluating new initiatives, and providing
expertise in the field of natural resources management.
