We recognize the land and waters that have inspired our work and offer gratitude to those Indigenous peoples on whose territory we work, live and play.About this roleCanadian Blood Services (CBS) is looking for a Regular, Full-time Manager Equipment Process Management to join our dynamic Equipment and Automation team.Reporting to the Associate Director, Equipment Services (ES) the incumbent is responsible for the development and ongoing improvement of the Equipment Management (EM) program (which includes automation solutions) within the Supply Chain at CBS, supporting the Production, Collection, Distribution and Logistics functions (excluding the vehicle fleet). The Incumbent will lead and manage a team consisting of technical staff providing leadership, training and technical expertise to the organization. And will be required to review on an on-going basis the current ES service delivery model and to promote and encourage continuous improvement and enhancement of the model.Formula for success

  • Leveraging your strong management skills, oversee department operations by recruiting and training staff, managing performance, aligning objectives with corporate goals, developing staff, managing the budget, and planning for future needs.
  • Utilitizing your expertise in continuous improvement, manage the entire equipment lifecycle, standardize processes, improve management practices, monitor fleet performance, and engage stakeholders in planning and financial decisions.
  • Drawing on your technical knowledge, support the implementation of new equipment and automation solutions, monitor industry trends, and collaborate with process owners for planning and introducing new technology.
  • Using your equipment management skills, define and own test equipment requirements, research suitable equipment, manage the existing fleet, and oversee distribution and sharing between sites and the Validation group.
  • Harnessing your performance monitoring skills, develop and maintain KPIs for equipment, monitor contracts, and ensure an adequate, diverse, and redundant equipment inventory.

Desired education and skills

  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution,
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive related experience leading a program across geographic regions and must possess demonstrated strong managerial skills, including experience in quality management systems, process design, control and continuous improvement, and equipment management.
  • Previous experience in pharmaceutical, device or biologic manufacturing is required.
  • Demonstrated success in the management of equipment maintenance in a highly regulated environment such as hospitals, pharmaceutical manufacturing, biologics manufacturing and testing or research laboratories is required.
  • Proven effective interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, professional and safety standards for equipment management processes are required.
  • Ability to deliver against multiple organizational priorities and to leverage a technical team is critical.

  • This role requires frequent travel to CBS sites across Canada. Occasional travel to the US to attend conference(s) may also be required.
