We seek to fill the position of
Manager Fundraising (m/f/*)
full-time (40 h/week), to start in April or later. The successful candidate will work with the new Director Fundraising as part of a growing fundraising team and will support the Hertie School’s leadership, faculty and other colleagues to enhance fundraising efforts and will contribute to the long-term success of our mission.
Your tasks:
Fundraising
- Contribute to the development and execution of Hertie School’s new fundraising strategy with a focus on major giving.
- Co-design, coordinate and execute fundraising campaigns, effectively integrating different channels and elements including digital, remote and in-person.
- Build and maintain a portfolio of individual and corporate partners supporting research, teaching, scholarships and Hertie School facilities.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders and represent the Hertie School externally in fundraising matters together with the Fundraising Director.
- Undertake research on potential funders/donors helping to identify and prioritise opportunities.
Project management
- Coordinate fundraising projects, working relevant Hertie School colleagues – ensuring project delivery on time and budget.
- Keep a line of communication with funders to establish and maintain mutually beneficial and satisfactory relationships incl. reporting on funded projects.
- Ensure compliance with relevant rules and regulations and put appropriate agreements with funding partners in place.
Communications & proposal writing
- Develop and keep fundraising materials up-to-date using various media to make sure that Hertie School, its fundraising opportunities and its priorities speak to funders, including bespoke fundraising proposals.
- Coordinate and closely work with relevant Hertie School stakeholders (for example centres, faculty, accounting, HR, legal).
- Ensure delivery of fundraising materials on time by establishing priorities and deadlines for information gathering, review and approval as well as coordinating requirements with contributors.
Planning & support
- Technical, financial and contractual conceptualisation, planning and implementation of fundraising projects
- Support other projects and activities of the fundraising team as and when needed
- Provide support and guidance in fundraising matters to assigned Hertie School colleagues as and when needed.
Your profile:
- Very good German (native-level/full professional proficiency) and English language skills (professional proficiency).
- A university degree, preferably in the social sciences, business or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in fundraising or similar fields, such as sales (B2B or B2C).
- Proven success in building relationships and generating support for your organisation’s priorities.
- Experience in the philanthropic sector and/or experience in marketing/sales/business development.
- Knowledge of and interest in the research topics covered by the Hertie School are a bonus.
- Excellent networking skills with an ability to manage a portfolio of assigned contacts/accounts.
- Proven project management, communication and presentation skills incl. strong written and verbal communication in German and English.
