Program Overview – Intensive Services, In-Home & Wexford Education and Community Partnership Program
Turning Point Youth Services (TPYS) is an accredited, non-profit agency serving youth (12 to 24 years of age) and their families in the east end of Toronto. Turning Point’s mission is to empower youth to make positive change, an to accomplish this, it offers a continuum of services for youth and their families with a focus on mental health, housing/sheltering, and youth justice. Turning Point Youth Services and WoodGreen Community Services announced on July 2, 2024 the integration of the two organizations. The combination of these two agencies will enable a more effective and integrated approach to the provision of comprehensive support services for youth in the GTA.
The In-Home Intensive Program (IHIP) is for youth ages 12 to 17 and their families where there are more significant mental health, relationship, or behavioral concerns than can be addressed in counselling alone. Service is provided more frequently by a counselor and/or youth worker in the home with the youth and parent/family. The program aims to strengthen individual mental health, family cohesion, and the family’s ability to develop the relationship skills needed. Youth and their parent/ family are required to commit to an individualized plan of 6-9 hours/week. Referrals come through STRIDES Help Ahead centralized point of access. This Manager will also oversee an Education Worker in an ECPP school program.
What You Will Do
Assist staff to assess and understand client mental health needs through a developmental and trauma informed lens.
Supervise and monitor staff in the delivery of effective therapeutic programming and intervention.
Provide regular supervision and identify appropriate professional development for assigned staff.
Support school/day treatment program through supervision to staff and attending school meetings.
Ensure effective use of existing communication systems to convey client and program related information.
Monitor expense sheets and mileage reports and ensure accurate and timely submission of timesheets for payroll purposes.
Oversee data collection and accuracy of client records by conducting timely quality assurance reviews and audits of client files.
Ensure client records are maintained per Agency standards and in accordance with privacy policies and legislation.
Assist in ensuring that all documentation related to accreditation is maintained appropriately and that information is communicated to the Program Manager.
Meet regularly with program management to determine and evaluate program, client, and staff needs.
Participate in recruitment of new staff and make hiring recommendations.
Chair/Co-Chair team meetings as required.
Provide on-call coverage in coordination with other management staff.
Perform other duties as assigned and required.
What You Bring to the Team
Degree/Diploma in a related field (MSW, BSW, CYC) or equivalent
Minimum 5 years’ experience working with children/youth in a congregate care setting
Minimum 2 years’ experience supervising staff
Demonstrated relational/strengths based philosophy of care towards children and youth.
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in therapeutic interventions.
Demonstrated understanding of the complex issues facing our clients and families.
Demonstrated strong leadership and ability to coach and mentor
Experience with budgeting and fiscal responsibility
Knowledge of relevant legislation and licensing standards
Knowledge of community resources and extensive networking experience
Ability to exercise professionalism and sound judgment in conflictual and stressful situations
Excellent administrative, organizational, communication and leadership skills
Able to be part of the on-call rotation for all congregate care programs
Sensitive to, and ability to work with, diverse staff and client groups
Strong computer skills and report writing skills
Valid First Aid/CPR and UMAB certifications

Ability to demonstrate an anti-oppression approach to practice and work from a client-centered, anti-racism, harm reduction, and trauma informed approach is required.
Demonstrate knowledge of issues affecting marginalized communities, policies, legislation, programs, and other issues related to scope of practice and social determinants of health.
Experience working with diverse and marginalized communities, including ethno-cultural and religious groups, LGBTQSS+ youth and youth adults, those impacted by poverty and those involved in youth justice.
