Permanent Full Time–We are looking for a Manager, Privacy and Data ProtectionAre you passion about privacy and data protection?As the Manager, Privacy and Data Protection, you’ll work closely with our partners across Canada to provide sound privacy advice and consultation to enable the business while respecting our privacy promise. As a privacy and data protection subject matter expert, you’ll act as the lead and subject matter expert pertaining to privacy and data protection issues. You will assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of policies and standards to ensure the business is able to meet privacy and data protection obligations. The Manager, Privacy and Data Protection will also play a key role in making privacy and data protection reporting and insights for visible across Canada.What you will do:Contribute collaboratively on projects to provide expert advice and guidance on awareness of relevant legislation, privacy commissioner rulings, best practices, internal/external breaches, and privacy impact assessmentsMonitor, interpret and maintain awareness to new and existing regulatory requirements, guidelines and other industry requirements to provide expertise advice and oversight of regulatory obligations.Communicate new privacy risks, emerging issues, managing effectiveness and consistency of practices across the organization, assessing compliance and escalation of internal issues or risks.Own and mature the privacy and data protection risk framework for consistent application of privacy and data protection across Canada LifeAssist with the management of the privacy program including communication and implementing change to the existing practices through the network of privacy representatives across the organization.Provide leadership and expertise on privacy breaches and complaintsStay informed of and provide advice on data protection and privacy best practices to provide guidance to teamsCreate and deliver high-quality presentations related to privacy and data protection practices, to all areas of the company, to encourage privacy by design and culture change to embed privacy even deeper into our daily processes. This includes facilitation of the Canada-wide data protection forumProvide team leadership to privacy team members and stakeholders, including feedback and prioritization.What you will bring:Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent experience; CIPP/C professional designation is preferred.Experience in data governance and / or knowledge of Canadian privacy law supported by a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an insurance/financial services industry with inherent compliance related accountabilities.Knowledge of data security and data protection protocols for safeguarding personal informationProven ability to understand new technological programs, processes and provide effective guidance related to complex technical projects and regulatory requirements.Ability to evaluate policies, processes and systems to identify business risks and control gaps.Demonstrated strength in effectively building relationships and influencing change effectively with a broad range of individuals and groups.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a niche in story tellingVery good organizational skills with strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.Ability to effectively use Microsoft products (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI as asset).Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Montreal, Toronto, London, Winnipeg.–The base salary for this position is between $74,500- $137,900 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
