The Process Automation Department is responsible for large scale, high impact computer software application systems that are integral to manufacturing processes, from raw materials to finished products. We continually stretch the limits and capability of automation, to enable ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s industry leading performance.Who are we looking for?We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to join our Process Automation department. The successful candidate has professional experience in one or more of the related areas; software development, working with automated systems, manufacturing operations or operations technology, with education in the field of Engineering or Computer Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cutting edge automated systems and processes to improve efficiency and productivity in our manufacturing operations.The successful candidate’s position title (Analyst / Sr Analyst / Specialist / Sr Specialist / Technical Lead) will be dependent on their qualifications and work experience.Key Responsibilities:Lead the design and development of automated systems and processes for manufacturing operations and process control systemsAnalyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for automationLead the development and implementation of process control software / systems.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation systems with existing equipment and processesTroubleshoot and maintain automation systems to ensure optimal performanceContinuously monitor and improve automation systems to increase efficiency and productivityProvide training and support to manufacturing team members on the use of automation systemsProvide technical guidance and leadership on latest relevant technologies and trends (IoT, Edge, AI)Desired Skills & Experience:Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline (Computer, Software, Electrical, Chemical, Mechatronics), Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Technology, or a related technical field.Formal software training or experience is requiredCapable of analyzing technical information and quickly learning new technical skillsPassion for software developmentExperience with Object-oriented programming using C++, C# or JavaAdvanced skills in problem investigation, analysis and solving.Highly collaborative team player7+ years of professional experience across any of the following areas: software development, working with automated systems, manufacturing operations or operations technology.The Extras:Experience working in process manufacturing industry preferredWork Environment:Office and Industrial setting in production areas when necessaryMany training opportunities availableCompany performance bonusesTuition refund plan for continuing educationTwo on-site gym facilities and many Wellnesses programsComprehensive medical, dental & retirement benefitsWork Expectations:Normal hours of work are daytime, Monday to Friday (8 hours per day, plus lunch)Occasional extended, paid hours as required to meet project deadlines or peak workloadsFlexible work hoursPaid on-call rotationTotal Rewards at ArcelorMittal Dofasco
