Marine Restoration Officer – Fixed term contract for one year

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Marine Restoration Officer to help restore one of the UK’s most important estuarine environments. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an ambitious team delivering pioneering seagrass and native oyster restoration, helping to recover marine habitats across the Humber Estuary.

Based at Spurn Point, you’ll be part of the Humber Restoration Team, supporting the delivery of practical marine restoration projects across the Humber Estuary. Working alongside colleagues and volunteers, you’ll contribute to seagrass and native oyster restoration, undertake ecological monitoring and field surveys, maintain aquaria and restoration facilities, analyse and report environmental data, and use GIS to support restoration planning and monitoring. You’ll also help engage local communities and represent the Trust at public events and with project partners, playing an important role in delivering innovative, evidence-led conservation.

We’re looking for someone with experience in marine conservation, habitat restoration or marine ecology, ideally with practical knowledge of seagrass and/or native oyster restoration, aquaria or aquaculture systems, and ecological surveying. You’ll be confident collecting, analysing and interpreting environmental data, producing clear technical reports and using GIS to support conservation work. Most importantly, you’ll be an enthusiastic team player who enjoys working outdoors in challenging coastal environments and is passionate about helping nature recover.
