Marketing and Communications Officer

The Sport, Exercise and Health Division are looking to appoint a 3 day per week Marketing and Communications Officer to join our Marketing and Communications Team. The successful candidate will provide the coordination and development function for the Division in relation to marketing and communications. This will include developing marketing campaigns; designing and delivering promotional materials; developing our online digital and offline in-facility communications activity, both internally and externally across our centrally managed channels and provide feedback on performance; supporting the production and editing of the Division’s video content.

The successful candidate will work closely with partners, specifically Bristol SU (Students Union) and the University’s External Relations Office to ensure our services, programmes and activities are promoted across the University and beyond. Also, in relation to various University led events, primarily recruitment and conversion events, and the Bristol SU led Welcome Fair. The successful candidate will support other colleagues across the Division in relation to marketing and communications’ activities.

As a member of the Business Development Team, the successful candidate will play an important role in support the income generation for the Division. There is a particular focus on, alongside the Division’s strategic priorities, the promotion of our sports membership offer, facilities, Sports Medicine Clinic, Swim School, and Tennis programme.

  • Experience of designing and managing marketing campaigns and projects
  • Experience of digital and social media marketing; including being able to tailor content to different audiences
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft 365 suite, Adobe suite, experience of web authoring and excellent CMS and HTML skills
  • Experience of the content production process, analysis, and specifications for digital and offline channels, for example social media, video editing, print production
  • Ability to champion and work within brand guidelines
  • Excellent writing skills: able to write analytically, with experience of presenting complex information in a straightforward way for both online and offline communications and editorial skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy at all times
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
  • Experience in leading and advising on marketing and communications
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to liaise and negotiate with a wide range of people at all levels in a personable and confident way
  • Ability to communicate (both written and orally) technical and non-technical information
  • Experience to work as part of a supportive team and maintain positive working relationships
  • A commitment to providing high quality customer service (to staff, applicants, and other stakeholders)
