Job DescriptionMarketing and Communications OfficerGrade: 6Department: AnthropologyLocation: Bloomsbury / hybrid workingLONDON’S GLOBAL UNIVERSITYReports toDepartmental ManagerContextThe is a research-led department with an international reputation, offering innovative teaching programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in both Bloomsbury and at UCL East.This role sits within the Professional Services team and leads on all aspects of communication and marketing of the department, its activities and education programmes, as well as organising internal and external events.Main purpose of the job
- To lead on student recruitment, in line with the departmental strategy, for our large portfolio of UG and PG programmes.
- To deliver the department’s internal and external communications strategy and its contingent elements, including acting as Chief Editor for the departmental website and producing regular newsletters.
- To support a busy programme of departmental events, conferences and seminar series.
Duties and responsibilities
- Work with departmental senior leadership on the critical function of student recruitment for both UG and PG programmes, alongside Departmental Colleagues and Faculty counterparts.
Work within the department’s Marketing budget for student recruitment (including leading and co-ordinating paid marketing campaigns). * Co-ordinate student recruitment events within the department such as virtual open days, departmental open days or welcome sessions to offer-holders, as well as departmental activities at UCL and Faculty Open Days. (this may include occasional evening and weekend work).
- Recruit and manage a team of Student Amabassadors throughout the year to support sudent recruitment activities.
- Lead and advise on the production, delivery and evaluation of the Department’s communication strategies and platforms and to deliver this in line with the overall strategy of the Department and UCL.
- Manage the brand and visual identity of the Department by monitoring the usage of templates and adherence to UCL guidelines so that the brand and visual identity is communicated consistently by all staff.
- Working with departmental colleagues, produce and disseminate of publicity, publications, prospectuses and other digital and paper-based promotional materials.
- Manage, update and maintain the departmental websites and social media accounts, including news and events, and lead on the production of new and engaging content.
- The postholder will be conscious of the need to ensure all activities are GDPR, CMA and Public Sector Accessibility Regulation compliant.
- Produce regular communications and newsletters for a variety of audiences such as staff, students and alumni.
- Manage publicity for all departmental events, including academic seminar series.
- Lead on the organisation of public facing and high profile events such conferences, public lectures, anniversary events and inaugural lectures.
General
Contribute to departmental, faculty, or UCL-wide working groups or committees. * Follow and actively promote the UCL
. * Carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line manager.
