About the role

This role is for current 2nd year undergraduate UOD Students Only

Join the Careers and Employment Service (CES) working to engage students and recent graduates about all things employability. You will be involved in a wide range of activities and tasks, from marketing and communications planning to content creation and social media management. You will be responsible for supporting communications to students and graduates either via online communication methods or through advertising in a variety of arenas. You will also be responsible for supporting with the development of creative, innovative and effective marketing activities to promote the Careers and Employment Service to students and graduates, through a wide range of channels.

The proposed start date is 7th August 2023

Principal accountabilities

  • Raise awareness of the Graduate Outcomes survey and its function with all students. Ensure that the importance and timescales of the survey are embedded in the work of the CES and Student Experience and Engagement teams.
  • Support the work of the Student Experience and Engagement and CES teams to ensure contact data for graduates is current and in the required format for HESA in readiness of survey seasons.
  • Have a good understanding of the CES offer and provide initial help and support to students and graduates by showcasing digital and printed resources, and signposting students to the most appropriate service.
  • Devise marketing campaigns and materials to engage students, developing content for emails, websites, blogs, video and social media, and managing the CES presence on various digital platforms. Identify the best channels for campaigns and measure the success of each campaign/activity.
  • Monitor and report on responses from finalist and graduate surveys, ensuring that case loading takes place and is followed up. Report on outcomes throughout the year.
  • Represent and promote the CES through day-to-day activities, promoting the service to students and graduates at all opportunities. Suggest and explore new ways of increasing engagement with students and graduates.
  • Work with the Senior Digital Officers to contribute to the social media messages of the whole CES. Schedule content and monitor and evaluate impact of messages. Identify trends and areas of improvement to ensure the highest quality of marketing and communication campaigns.
  • Support the Careers and team to deliver agreed college specific projects, this may include mentoring schemes, communications strategies, student and graduate engagement, labour market-based projects etc.
  • Working alongside Careers team to identify areas of development to support the CES agenda, understanding the needs of all key CES stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of alumni engagement and communication strategies to promote the 3-year CES promise.
  • Support CES events, engaging in the planning process as part of the events group through to attending events to represent the service.
  • To research best practice in commercial awareness and update LMI information and present findings in publications to students.
  • To work as a team across university sites, reporting findings and recommendations.
  • Support the operation of the CES Hubs (Kedleston Road and Markeaton Street) promoting the CES service offer, welcoming students, offering first point of contact support and signposting, as well as live chat support.

    Qualifications

    • University of Derby second year student

    Experience

    • Administration experience including data input
    • Experience in telephone, reception or customer services work
    • Experience in creating content for social media across various platforms

    Skills, knowledge and abilities

    • Ability to network effectively and work across teams
    • Sound organisation skills with a methodical approach to workload
    • Understand how to use digital and social media to reach a target market
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to relate effectively with recent graduates, parents or guardians and staff
    • Creative and have an eye for detail
    • Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise workloads
    • Active listening skills
    • Ability to follow procedures
