Maths and English Trainer and Community Development WorkerHours: Full time 35 hours per weekSalary: £30,459 – £40,086Location: Stretford Base – Be able to travel across all 5 campuses and with community partners.The Trafford and Stockport College Group (TSCG) has an opportunity for an experienced Trainer/Assessor to join the Adult and Community Learning Department to help us achieve our vision of unlocking potential and fostering success.The Job :You will deliver outstanding courses using a diverse range of teaching and learning strategies. You will provide learners with an exceptional educational experience enabling them to maximise their potential.You will teach the standard curriculum of Functional English and maths to Part-Time Adult to enable learners to progress on to more advanced maths and English or other relevant progression courses/employment. Recent and relevant experience of teaching these subjects (Beginners through to Level 3) would be essential.You will be required to identify marketing opportunities and create marketing materials to meet individual community needs. Represent the College in a calendar of events to raise the profile of Community learning.You will have to ensure documentation including schemes of work, lesson plans and specialist resources are in place prior to the start of courses. Respond to student and partner enquiries, provide advice on learning opportunities and support systems. Contribute to the day-to-day organisation, running and administration of the Team, and ensure all paperwork, data and administration is kept up to date.You will be required to provide information, advice and guidance for learners, identifying individual support needs and individual progression opportunities. Where appropriate liaise with other agencies and sign post leaners to appropriate provision.You will participate in course teams and other staff meetings. Carry out any other duties that may be reasonably required, commensurate with the grade at the initial place of work or at other locations within the Group’s catchment area.To work closely with the Community Learning (CL) Coordinator to deliver responsive, high quality community learning provision.To actively research and identify community needs, using local intelligence and partnership work to maximize the opportunities for community learning.Develop and maintain strong links with a wide range of community partners, agencies, groups and development workers to strengthen the capacity of local people in different communities to participate in adult/community learning.Liaise with individuals in the community to create demand led provision by understanding national/regional agendas and translating this into local opportunities thus meeting the needs of local communities and organisation.The post holder may be required to represent the college at meetings including EES locality and stakeholder meetings in the evenings.The post holder will be required to oversee the development and delivery of projects.To identify marketing opportunities and create marketing materials to meet individual community needs. Represent the College in a calendar of events to raise the profile of Community learning.Understand the associated curriculum with the Community Learning targets and use the knowledge to create individual schedules of provision.Liaise with the CL Coordinator to advise on curriculum planning and delivery of a range of adult/community learning programmes to meet partner and learner needs.Ensure documentation including schemes of work, lesson plans and specialist resources are in place prior to the start of courses.Identify and actively support community groups, to enable them to sustain their activity.Provide Information, advice and guidance for learners, identifying individual support needs and individual progression opportunities. Where appropriate liaise with other agencies and sign post leaners to appropriate provision.To contribute and share information/good practice from partnership working across other teams.Respond to student and partner enquiries, provide advice on learning opportunities and support systems, and enrol learners.To be responsible for the organization and support for courses in a range of venues, overseeing the learning process, and enabling groups and learners to achieve their individual learning objectives.Actively engage in adult and community learning developments and utilize the knowledge to maximize local learning opportunities.Research, develop and deliver ‘fee paying’ provision to meet leisure interests of the community.To take an active part in the quality assurance and planning process within the Team and contribute to the programme review and self-assessment process.Participate in course teams and other staff meetings.
