Are you looking for work in July 2025 and onwards?Do you have experience in supporting children/ young people as a one-to-one and looking for some flexible work?We are looking for a Maths and/or English tutor to work directly with children and young people in supporting to meet the academic criteria to their peers. The role involves encouraging pupil outside of mainstream settings.This tutoring role involves providing informative, engaging sessions face to face with children at their residential home. This is often alongside a school or social workers to support their pupil with alternative provision.What to expect from this Maths/English tutor role?– You will be planning resources around the child’s needs as this could be likely on developing their knowledge on Maths or English.– Resourcing engaging and creative lessons to get pupils back up to speed in their learning.– Being able to manage and implement different behaviour strategies and coping mechanisms would be desirable in this role as the pupil will likely have behaviour needs that need to be met.The location for this would vary dependent on the need of the pupil but would be pre-agreed prior to commencement of the tuition. All pupils for this role however will be based around the Nottingham area which has extensive transport links by bus and train.What are we looking for in a Maths/English tutor?
- Maths/English specialist or the experience and knowledge of teaching the subject.
- Have experience working with children or young people.
- Range of behaviour management and coping mechanism.
- Able to plan and deliver core and cross-curricular engaging sessions.
- Applying skills to get pupils education back up to speed.
- Checking that pupils are on track to achieve their desired learning outcomes and being able to provide feedback.
- Desirable – SEN experience
To be successful in your application, you must be able to provide evidence of this as skills and experience.Please be aware that all applicants will be subject to background checks and will need a current DBS certificate (update service registered). Teaching Personnel can support your application should this be required.Working hours are between Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.Benefits of working with Teaching Personnel:
