Role Overview
We’re looking for a committed full-time Media Campaigner to support our citizen mobilisation push in the 2024 EU elections, from March to June 15. You will be part of a team dedicated to ensuring Europe continues to stand as a strong democratic force.
Joining one of the world’s leading public organisations, your hard-hitting media and communications strategies will be leveraged to execute targeted campaigns aimed at preserving our human rights and dignity, as well as the environment during the EU elections.
Your responsibilities will include designing creative and impactful media strategies and tactics, drafting message framing and media materials, spotting media moments, connecting and reaching out to key journalists and media.
This position is a unique opportunity to shape Europe’s political future in alignment with justice, equality, and human dignity.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement creative media and communications strategies and tactics.
- Identify opportunities for strong media-led campaigns and moments to use media to advance campaigns;
- Write media materials, talking points and briefings for staff and spokespersons;
- Leading the planning and execution of both physical and digital campaigns, including physical actions and stunts with short turnaround and media engagement.
- Supporting the development of creative tactics and messages.
- Media pitching and outreach
- Rewriting communications in other languages, depending on proficiency
- Public speaking in the media and on social media.
- Publishing and editing online content.
Qualifications
The core competencies this role requires are:
- Strong understanding and experience of how public elections campaigns function.
- Advanced understanding of France culture, politics and media/social media landscape.
- Professionalism, efficiency and results-oriented delivery on short timelines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Track record in messaging and storytelling skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
- Creative abilities for campaign tactics and strategies.
- Strong media pitching skills with the ability to advocate and persuade reporters and editors.
- Solid media relationships in France are desirable.
- Strong spokesperson skills and ability to train others.
- Analytical skills and ability to use data to measure the effectiveness of communications initiatives.
- Passion and commitment to global justice, citizen empowerment and social change.
- Strong teamwork skills, comfortable in a highly collaborative team culture and a hierarchical team structure.
- Enthusiasm for a wide range of global issues, and a readiness to move swiftly between them, while being able to rapidly focus in on the details of each.
- Proficient in Google Suite and online communication systems (Slack, Zoom, etc).
- Excellent written and verbal skills in French – high proficiency in English is a plus.
Location
Avaaz is a virtual organisation, with most of our work done online. This position will be based in France, ideally in or around Paris.
Compensation
Salary varies with location and experience, and is highly competitive with leading international nongovernmental organisations.The monthly compensation for this position ranges from 4.800 – 7.000 EURO.
