Title: Medical Advisor, OncologyCompany: Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals Canada Inc.Job Description:SummaryAs the Medical Advisor, Oncology, you will be responsible for the development of the annual national medical affairs strategy and implementation within the Oncology therapeutic area. This includes coordinating an annual medical strategic planning exercise with MSLs for synchronized development of the National Medical Plan with the MSL territory Medical Plans. You will be responsible for implementation of the National plan, including associated budget oversight while also initiating and providing local coordination and oversight for local real-world data studies, Investigator-sponsored studies (ISS) and medical learning programs in Canada, as appropriate.The position represents the medical oncology therapeutic expertise/resource within the company; providing, and building, medical insights that will be used to support cross-functional groups. Your will be the lead medical representative on brand teams. Expertise will be utilized for tasks such as medical review of promotional and non-promotional materials in the relevant therapeutic area(s), preparing/supervising responses to Medical Information requests, authoring relevant scientific communications, and providing internal (& relevant external) training. Additionally, field activity could include management of Ipsen initiated activities such as oversight and coordination of Ipsen-sponsored studies (CSS) in Canada, as needed.Main responsibilities / Job ExpectationsThe Medical Advisor for Oncology will be responsible for providing medical expertise and guidance for the activities of the Canadian Oncology Medical group under the direction of the Associate Director of Medical Affairs.Through the development and implementation of annual National medical plan, provides therapeutic guidance and alignment for Oncology MSL team to help them develop their territory plans, which scientifically supports marketed products as well as pipeline products, and for coordination of activities with the Global Medical Affairs group.The position will oversee all Canadian-based medical activities including but not limited to oversight of clinical program including Ph IV studies, investigator sponsored research studies, posters and publications, medical information, Canadian Disease Area Expert management, product defense and communications, advisory boards/consultancy meetings, scientific exchange, medical learning program development, and review and selection of educational and scientific/clinical grants. The position will be a key partner with the commercial lead and all other functions and collaborate to set the strategic direction for the assigned therapeutic area/product.The Medical Advisor is expected to report any potential adverse events/safety information or products complaints for Ipsen products to the Medical Information and Pharmacovigilance department, per company requirements.Specific responsibilities with time allocation:Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Ipsen to provide medical/scientific expertise and field engagement (aligned with Ipsen policies) for insights in therapeutic area, medical review of promotional and non-promotional materials; 30 % of time.Development and implementation of an annual National medical affairs plan (tactics: clinical research, publication plan, medical education initiatives, MSL-driven initiatives; End result: Annual Medical Plan, 40 % of time.Oversee the execution of the MSL POA across Oncology products: End result: Execution of MSL POA: 20% of time.Through the Medical Affairs Information Dept. and MSL team, create & disseminate medically sound information to support the safe & effective use of Ipsen Oncology products (adhering to Regulatory and Ipsen guidelines), End Result: Medical Tools and Resources, 10% of time.Knowledge, abilities & experienceMD, PhD (Sciences), PharmD, MSc. with experience in Oncology.Board eligible or certified Oncologist is a strong asset.5+ years as a Medical Affairs with 2+ years as a Medical Advisor is strongly preferred.Oncology experience is required.Clinical trials/research experience a strong asset.MSL experience and/or MSL management a plus.Must be a strategic thinker who can look ahead and clearly anticipate future needs, consequences, and trends.Excellent scientific acumen and ability to analyze scientific data quickly and accurately any.Ability to communicate scientific and clinical information clearly and credibly verbally and in writing.Interpersonal: ability to interact easily with all levels within the organization.Must act ethically and with integrity.High level of collaboration and influencing skills.AccessibilityIpsen Biopharmaceuticals Canada Inc. welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
