Our service is currently led by 14 consultants (1 Academic Professor of Medical Oncology, 2 NHS Medical Oncology, and 11 Clinical Oncology). The successful applicant will join our team of 5STs, 1 IMT, and FY Doctors. The post is for 12 months. Applicants must have at least MRCP Part 1, and excellent inter-personal skills.Dundee is Scotland’s fourth largest city and lies 20 miles east of Perth on the north bank of the River Tay. It houses two large Universities (Abertay and Dundee) and is the focal point for the on-going development of a thriving biomedical technology industry. Ninewells Hospital and Medical School is a major teaching hospital and provides a comprehensive range of services with specialist units. Ninewells Hospital and Medical School has been designated one of the Regional Cancer Centres in Scotland and provides, on a single site, all Surgical, Radiotherapy, and Medical Oncology services. The department enjoys close and prosperous links with the University of Dundee Medical School and Life Sciences and the successful applicant will be encouraged to develop their role as an educator and researcher.The post-holder will have the opportunity to gain intensive and wide-ranging experience in oncology and will be encouraged to participate in all the training, teaching, audit and research opportunities within the department. In addition to a busy outpatient service there are opportunities to be involved in ward work, our chemotherapy units, our radiotherapy department and clinical trial (Stefani) unit. We have a 23 bedded ward, taking direct admissions, and an acute Oncology Service which is Nurse led.The post provides an excellent opportunity to gain oncology experience that can help a candidate develop their CV and increase the chance of securing an NTN in due course.Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Dr Hannah Lord Consultant Clinical Oncologist, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.
