Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityNova Scotia Health is recruiting a Medical Physicist Assistant for the Cancer Care Program at the Cape Breton Cancer Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia. As a member of the Department of Medical Physics, you will play a vital role in cancer care, joining a dynamic team of twelve oncology and two imaging physicists within the Department of Medical Physics. At the Sydney facility, you will join one full-time and one part-time medical physicists, four radiation oncologists, four dosimetrists, eleven radiation therapists and two electronics engineering technologists.Reporting to the Chief Physicist, the Medical Physics Assistant is responsible to ensure that radiation doses are delivered in an accurate, effective, and safe manner. The role of a Medical Physics Assistant can include treatment unit quality assurance, treatment dose verification, external beam treatment planning, assisting in the commissioning of treatment units, dosimetry measurements, radiation safety responsibilities, and preparation of patient treatment accessories, under the supervision of a certified Medical Physicist. There is also potential for particiation in research projects as the centre is a growing academic program.The facilityThe treatment facility in Sydney includes one Varian Clinac IX, one TrueBeam unit and one CT simulator. The Eclipse/Aria planning and information system is centralized and deployed through Citrix, allowing sharing of knowledge and treatment planning across both centres in the province. Redevelopment of The Cape Breton Cancer Centre is underway, including an expansion by 20,000 square feet, more than doubling the current size.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:
