Description We are in the healthcare sector, based in Olympia, Washington, 98506, United States, and we’re in search of a Medical Records Technician. As a member of our team, you’ll handle various administrative tasks, including processing patient information, ensuring the accuracy of patient records, and responding to inquiries. This role is pivotal in maintaining the smooth operation of our medical records department.
Responsibilities
• Handle incoming communication such as faxes, scans, and emails, and input information into our system.
• Request and collect patient records from different platforms, ensuring complete information is gathered and uploaded into files/charts.
• Receive notes from medical staff, refine them, and add them to patient charts.
• Scan and upload other vital information regarding patient history.
• Ensure patient medical charts are accurate and up-to-date for referrals, pharmacy requests, or to document history to close out patient records.
• Regularly check charting for completeness, verifying all notes are signed and following up if any information is missing.
• Conduct daily audits and census reports to ensure charts are in compliance.
• Answer phone calls, collect basic referral information, and verify insurance.
• Utilize an online reporting system for compliance and chart documentation.
• Oversee the admission work, excluding payment processing. Requirements • Possess a minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Records Technician
• Skilled in answering inbound and managing outbound calls
• Proficient in auditing medical records and ensuring compliance
• Ability to create and interpret charts and graphs
• Experience in checking patients’ medical records and maintaining inpatient records
• Knowledgeable about patient eligibility and insurance verifications
• Proficient in Office Suite
• Experienced in managing medical charts and patient demographic data
• Understand and adhere to HIPAA Compliance and Patient Privacy Rule
• Capability to manage patient discharges effectively
• Skilled in handling and maintaining patient records
• Proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) is a must TalentMatch®
