Consultancy to conduct qualitative data analysis and report writing for the social behavior change communication Family planning project in Seme sub-county, Kenya.

Background: The SBCC FP project aims to inform the design and implementation of interventions that strengthen health systems and promote community engagement and understanding of men around family planning.

Living Goods in partnership with Kisumu County, is implementing a phased rollout of its multi-pronged intervention package where CHWs will be trained on improved messaging to support FP service provision and facilitate male champions to encourage understanding and support for family planning practices. The project has already collected qualitative data on knowledge, barriers/ challenges of male involvement and decision making on use of family planning through interviewing young men of 15- 45 years in Seme sub-county, Kenya.

Objective: This assignment’s objective is to conduct qualitative data analysis and report writing. The consultant will be responsible for conducting a quality check performing data analysis, and preparing the final report that will serve as a baseline for the intervention and provide guidance for customizing the male engagement interventions.

Duration: 6 days spread between May 2024 – June 2024.

Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Data coding, cleaning, and analysis: Perform data coding, cleaning, and analysis using appropriate statistical methods and software. Interpret findings and draw meaningful conclusions from the data.
2. Reporting: Prepare a comprehensive final report (LG will share with the Consultant a report structure) and a slide deck summarizing the project’s objectives, methodology, findings, and recommendations. Ensure the report is clear, concise, and meets the project’s deliverables and timeline.
3. Communication: When needed be, communicate on project progress, challenges, and updates to Living Goods’ project manager and relevant team members.
4. Presentations of dissemination– The consultant shall be expected to make presentations of the findings in separate and joint sessions.

Note: All transcription costs will be covered by Living Goods.

Expected Deliverables:

1. A comprehensive final research report, structured according to Living Goods’ guidelines and a slide deck highlighting findings relevant to the intervention approach and summarizing key aspects of the research project, suitable for presentations to stakeholders.
2. Validation and dissemination of findings with key stakeholders in Seme sub-county.

Qualifications:

1. A degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in managing SRH projects and conducting qualitative data analysis.
3. Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills.
4. Proficient in statistical analysis software (e.g., Atlas.ti, Dedoose and NVivo).

Interested Consultants should submit a technical and financial proposal outlining:

1. Understanding of the Scope of Work
2. Methodology and approach to the assignment.
3. Work plan with clear timelines.
4. Detailed budget.
5. Team composition and their roles
6. Experience conducting similar assignments.
7. Three references from previous clients.
8. Three (3) sample reports of similar assignments.
9. Deadline for Submission: 5th June 2024.
