Key Responsibilities and Functions

Leadership:

  • Be a leader and promote Siemens’ safety culture and compliance to standards and policies;

  • Be an ambassador of Siemens when interacting with customers, suppliers and employees;

  • Report and escalate all accidents/incidents and participate in the incident investigation and review processes;

  • Act as a role model when it comes to safety, quality of work and efficiency of operations.

Track Work Coordination:

  • Perform track maintenance and repair;

  • Perform track inspection and track maintenance activities according to Metrolinx Engineering Standards, Best Practices and Transport Canada Guidelines;

  • Supervise, develop and lead track maintainers and subcontractors to ensure quality maintenance and safe work performance;

  • Coordinate and execute the work related to various maintenance activities such as: spot rail, track tie and other track component replacement; turnout component replacement and adjustment; maintenance of public and private crossings; vegetation cutting; fencing repairs;

  • Interact with customers, co-workers and subcontractors;

  • Support geometry testing and rail flaw detection testing on the territory;

  • Snow clearing from railway turnouts (switches) and other key track and right of way components – Winter;

  • Perform Quality Control Inspections and Performance Monitoring and Rules Compliance related to track maintenance programs and other work activities;

  • Implement Safety Directives and assist in the development of safety programs and goals

  • Provide track flagging service as required.

  • Complete work, material inventory and inspection reports as required

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Highly organized and flexible

  • Provide strong leadership and the ability to train, supervise coach other employees

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Strong Background in track inspection and maintenance

  • Must be able to read technical drawings

  • High School Diplom

  • Thorough understanding in track geometry;

  • Thorough understanding in track standards and track safety requirements;

  • Thoroughly understanding of continuous welded rail (CWR);

  • Experience in track inspection procedures, track construction and track maintenance/repair work;

  • Thermite welding qualification is an asset;

  • Valid Driving License;

  • Must be able endure repetitive physical work activities and lift and carry approximately 60lbs;

  • Available to work on various work cycles with occasional overtime.
