Modelling and Analysis of Spectrum Sharing in Future Wireless Networks

To meet the growing demands of connectivity and coverage, efficient spectral utilization has always been a key element in the design of wireless networks. In future wireless networks, hybrid sharing of spectrum will be enabled where Wi-Fi and mobile services will share spectrum in the upper 6 GHz band by both terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks. This opens up key research questions such as what is the impact of spatio-temporal dynamics in these networks and which stochastic models need to be developed to capture these dynamics. It also entails strategies to prioritize traffic and distributed management of the shared spectrum in real-time. In this project, the aim is to study the spectral and energy efficiency of hybrid spectrum sharing to evaluate the quality of experience of applications relying on shared spectrum in 6G networks.
