Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Advisor

Position description

Key tasks: 

• Overseeing the design and implementation of an innovative pilot project, combining rigorous impact evaluation methods with participatory approaches 
• Building the capacity of local facilitators in using the project approaches, including on participatory evaluation
• Collecting, analysing and making sense of large quantities of qualitative data, in correspondence with our institutional research partner
• Facilitating internal review and reflection meetings on the project 
• Leading on correspondence with our project donor and partners
• Developing learning products based on insights and reflections from project data, findings to be shared within the organisation, the donor and the wider development community
• Support project re-design and adaptation to context changes, insights from MEL data, as needed
• Contributing to the overall MEL team priorities and strategic development, as needed
• Ad hoc MEL support to other projects managed by the Lebanon office, including supporting the development of project logics and MEL frameworks for proposals

Your knowledge, experience & skills

• Master degree in a relevant field, such as peace and conflict studies, international relations, or political science 
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation, ideally in the peacebuilding sector or in conflict settings, with experience handling large quantities of qualitative data
• Knowledge of participatory evaluation methodologies is key, experience in (rigorous or not) impact evaluation or comparative studies is welcomed
• Experience working in Lebanon, with Lebanese stakeholders an asset
• Fluency in Arabic and English is essential
• Ability to work independently and across various teams within the organization, while contributing to a team of MEL advisors 
• Ability to work under time pressure
