BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
WFP Ukraine’s Communications & Media Unit works to educate national and international audiences on WFP’s assistance to Ukrainians, to sustain international attention to the humanitarian crisis, to support donor relations and fundraising, to improve communication with beneficiary communities and counter misinformation, to protect WFP’s reputation and increase trust in the organization.
Under the supervision of the Communications Officer/Head of Communications, the Multimedia Content Producer will lead the development of multimedia content products and visual stories to support the Unit’s outreach and the organization’s fundraising strategies.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support WFP’s communications and fundraising efforts in Ukraine by producing high quality visual content such as photo stories, photo books, short videos, focused on or highlighting the humanitarian and economic toll of the war and/or WFP’s activities in the country.
- Lead the preparation of photo exhibitions or visual/interactive exhbitions in Ukraine or in strategic international locations (e.g. international conferences, donor capitals, etc.)
- Ensure high quality photographic coverage of local events, ceremonies, high level meetings, high level visits and other as needed.
- Prepare packages of high quality visual content and short stories for donors and/or media outlets for their use as appropriate.
- Lead and manage the entire process of content production, from research and creative brainstorming, to mission planning in coordination with technical units and field offices, to content collection, editing, captioning and archiving on the WFP Multimedia Hub.
- Keep all multimedia content well organized, labeled, and quickly uploaded to the WFP Multimedia Hub for easy use by WFP units and other WFP offices.
- Contribute to or lead on developing special creative projects such as photo books, short documentaries or video series.
- Curate selections of photos and other visual content for use in publications or presentations as needed.
- Contribute to training of national and international staff or cooperating partners on audiovisual content production, WFP processes and consent rules.
- Contribute to strategic communications planning in the country by providing strategic inputs on creative storytelling, artistic direction and multimedia content planning.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- All visual content produced should be organized, uploaded and made available for use by WFP, respecting all WFP consent rules and processes, on a regular basis and by the end of the contract.
Education:
- Advanced university degree, or first University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses in photography or content production
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of postgraduate professional and relevant work experience in documentary photography, photojournalism, creative direction, or content production.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Training and extensive experience in documentary, photography/photojournalism, portrait photography
- Photo editing using professional software such as Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop
- Storytelling and creative writing
- Languages: Fluent in English is essential.
