Job TypeFull Time PermanentSalary£26,338 – £30,805 per annumLocationWaterside CampusClosing Date03-08-2025Ref NoUN5329Documents(PDF, 133.5kb)About the jobHours of work are usually Monday – Thursday 8.30 am – 4.30 pm, Friday 8.30am – 4pm, with Out Of Hours support on a rota basis of 1 in 5 weeks.Interview date – 18 August 2025We are seeking an organised and flexible Multiskilled Engineer with an Electrical trade specific background to complete reactive and planned tasks within the building services team, to support with the delivery of the University’s Estates Strategy and departmental objectives.No two days are the same as you work across our campus and sites, predominantly within the reactive maintenance team. You will be delivering a wide range of repairs and services to ensure the estate remains operational at all times.You will:

• Provide support for all aspects of reactive and planned maintenance as required, ensuring delivery of a high standard and a quality service to meet client expectations.
• Carrying out reactive works as per helpdesk requests to complete works in the time scales set out in our Service Level Agreement.
• Report defects.
• Complete high quality repairs
• Be responsible for your own and the teams Health and Safety on site.
• Attend training.
• Form part of the emergency 24 hour call out rota.
• Work to Standard Operating Procedures.

About youWe are looking for a Multiskilled Engineer Electrical bias to join our current team. You will work in a fast-paced environment with work in our student halls of residence and academic spaces.Having a full & current UK driving licence is essential for this post as some travel is required between our campus locations (all local to Northampton) and to enable you to support our Out Of Hours repairs service on a rota with our other engineers.You will;

• Have experience in the completion of work in accordance with approved codes of practice and legislative compliance with a clear understanding of Health & Safety at work.
• Have sound knowledge of products and materials to allow you to diagnose, fault find and provide effective right first-time repairs.
• Have smart phone / tablet and computer skills as you will be using these daily to receive works, complete jobs and communicate outcomes. Alongside this you will undertake online training and keep up to date with Safe Operating Procedures.
• Have good interpersonal skills, communication and a commitment to high service delivery as student and staff experience are amongst our key objectives.
• Be able to work on your own and as part of team in a physically demanding environment.
• Be able to adapt and prioritise your workload in a changing environment as no two days are the same.
• Demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills to be able to work accurately and safely.

QualificationsEssential;

• Qualification in maintenance work to NVQ level 2 (equivalent)

Desirable;

• IOSH Managing Safely
• Asbestos Awareness
• IPAF/PASMA
