The Organization

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an International Catholic NGO (HQ) based in Rome. Our mission is to accompany, serve, and advocate on behalf of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons, JRS has been operating in Jordan since 2008.

In Jordan-Amman, JRS runs projects and activities that favor social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, community-building, psycho-social well-being, peacebuilding, empowerment, and self-reliance. JRS strives to create spaces where everyone feels included, accepted, and respected.

General Purpose of the Position

To design, implement, and oversee music education programs and activities that foster artistic development, cultural exchange, and community engagement, while supporting and mentoring trainers and participants to ensure the project’s success.

Works directly with: Country Director, Project Coordinator, and project team.

Main Responsibilities of the Position

  1. Reviewing and developing the music teaching methodology, based on the context, target groups, and activity plan;
  2. Supporting in the selection of the participants of the activities, both adults and children/teenager;
  3. Supporting in the preparation and implementation of the training of trainers;
  4. Regular meetings and supervision of the music trainers during the whole project;
  5. Regular music classes with children, teenagers and adults;
  6. Supporting in the designing, preparation and implementation of the music component of other activities and public events (theatre workshop, traditional dances workshop, jam sessions, Festival of Encounter, children and teenagers’ performances, music production lab, etc);
  7. Supporting in establishment of partnerships and collaborations with other music related organizations;
  8. Undertakes any other duties that are within the ambit of the position as assigned by the Country Director.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field (or equivalent experience);
  • Experience teaching music to diverse age groups, including children, teenagers, and adults;
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing music programs or workshops;
  • Knowledge of various music genres, traditional and contemporary styles, and performance techniques;
  • Previous experience working in social music projects with NGOs;
  • Experience in training and mentoring music trainers or educators;
  • Familiarity with organizing and coordinating public events or performances.

  • Strong musical skills (instrumental, vocal, or both).
  • Curriculum development and teaching methodology expertise.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership and team management abilities.
  • Event planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders (e.g., partner organizations, trainers, and participants).
  • Problem-solving skills and adaptability to different contexts and challenges.
  • Basic knowledge of music production tools or software (optional but beneficial).

POSITION DEADLINE: 16/02/2025

POSITION SALARY: 750 JOD

CONTRACT DURATION: Until the end of July 2025 with the possibility of renewal based on the performance evaluation and the availability of funds.
