Organizational Setting

FAO Uzbekistan has been established in Republic of Uzbekistan in accordance with memorandum agreement between Government and FAO and successfully assisting Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan by implementing joint programs with Government organization in almost ten years as of now. FAO Uzbekistan office is implementing many agricultural projects and assisting national partners to improve the fields for better knowledge and practice sharing.

Reporting Lines

Under the overall supervision of FAO Representative in Uzbekistan, direct supervision of AFAOR in Uzbekistan and technical guidance of the REU Communication Officer and in coordination with the Project Technical Coordinator

Technical Focus

Position holder is intended to develop communication plan to showcase the results achieved through the project for wider audience, high quality communication materials to support visibility needs and other requirement of the visibility plan.

Tasks and responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of FAO Representative in Uzbekistan, direct supervision of AFAOR in Uzbekistan and technical guidance of the REU Communication Officer and in coordination with the Project Technical Coordinator, and in accordance with FAO’s corporate communications policies and practices, the National Communication Specialist will be responsible for rolling out the communication activities for the projects implemented by FAO Uzbekistan and will carry out the following assignments:
• Develop communication plan to showcase the results achieved through the project for wider audience.
• Develop high quality communication materials to support visibility needs and other requirement of the visibility plan.
• Support documentation for visibility of the project activities and results.
• Ensure other relevant tasks such as language-editing of technical reports, policy briefs, talking points and briefing notes are done in a timely manner.
• Respond to media enquiries on project activities and monitor coverage of FAO-related news in the Uzbek media, providing weekly reports to the project management unit and the Regional Office.
• Prepare terminal consultancy report summarizing achievements and lessons learned.
• Processes, coordinates arrangements, and delivers services.
• Research and analyses communication policy and service delivery issue, maintains operational statistics, and prepares related reports.
• Contributes to the development of information and training materials and coordinates and assists in the presentation of information/ training sessions to management and staff.
• Provides information and advice to management and staff.
• Participates on project teams and work groups.
• Carry out any other tasks requested by FAO.

• Liaison with OCC will be maintained, either directly or through an agreed focal point/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, aligned messaging, and appropriate review and clearance processes.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• University degree in international journalism, journalism, mass media and other related fields.
• Not less than 2 years in telecommunications, communications, journalism and related sphere.
• Working knowledge of English, Russian and Uzbek
• National of Uzbekistan or resident in the country with a valid work permit.

Selection Criteria

• Work experience in international organizations, state TV/Radio stations would be desired, but not required.
