UN Women’s goal in Liberia is to promote women’s human rights and gender equality which are key in sustaining and furthering achievements in stability and development. In this regard, its programming in the Country is connected to five corporate priority areas: women’s leadership and political participation (WPPL); enhancing women’s economic empowerment (WEE); engaging women in all aspects of peace and security processes (WPS) and advancing women’s rights to live free from violence (VAW) and Gender Responsive Governance. UN Women also coordinates and promotes the UN system’s joint work in advancing gender equality.
Under the Direct Support stream of the Rapid Response Window (RRW), the WPHF is seeking the services of a consultant (individual/institution), to facilitate two community consultations and one government dialogue in three different counties, in Liberia. The selected consultant will work in close coordinating with UN Women Liberia and the civil society organization “Disabled Children and Female Empowerment Network” (DCFEN), based in Liberia.
The intervention aims at identifying and addressing barriers that are hindering or preventing the participation of women with disabilities from the implementation of the 2003 Accra Comprehensive Peace Agreement in a participatory manner. The work consists in facilitating 2 stakeholders’ dialogues in Grand Bassa and Grand Cape Mount to collect the views of stakeholders on the inclusion of women with disabilities in the process for monitoring the implementation of the 2003 Accra Agreement, producing a policy brief for use in advocacy for the inclusion of women with disabilities in monitoring the implementation of the 2003 Accra Agreement, and facilitating an advocacy dialogue with stakeholders to demand action based on strategic recommendations highlighted in the policy brief.
The consultant will be reporting to the Programme Technical Specialist, UN Women and will be supported by the Programme Analyst, who will be the point of contact on the contract and payment issues.
