with a range of habitats including woodland, grasslands, and wetlands there is a lot going on
for wildlife.

About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join our professional, friendly and highly committed
Environmental Policy & Development team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly
motivated Ecology & Biodiversity Officer to help Stevenage deliver a matrix of valuable
wildlife habitats now and in the future.

They will be responsible for managing the enhancement, restoration and creation of wildlife
habitats, ensuring that we fulfil our duties under the Environment Act 2021 in relation to
biodiversity net gain, and leading the delivery of the Stevenage Biodiversity Action Plan.

The successful candidate will need to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with
a variety of internal and external stakeholders; contributing to raising awareness of
biodiversity across Stevenage and the wider county.

They will lead on a range of opportunities to connect people and wildlife including leading
practical conservation activities and delivery of community events and projects.

About You

You will have:

  • A proven track record of developing green spaces for people and wildlife
  • Sound knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain
  • Knowledge of writing management plans for a range of habitat types
  • Good general ecological knowledge of British species and habitats
  • Expertise in delivering nature-based solutions and biodiversity interventions
  • Proven experience of leading practical conservation activities for volunteers and community
    groups
