Nature Recovery Strategy Officer (Part-time)

Chichester District Council

Do you want to make a real difference for local wildlife? Chichester District has an amazing
variety of nationally and internationally important habitats, our harbours, chalk stream
ancient woodlands, heathlands and chalk downs. However, the wider landscape around these
habitats needs to be enhanced and better connected to make our environment robust in a changing
climate. With many partnerships and projects underway across the public, private and voluntary
sectors and new funding opportunities for landscape scale recovery and nature-based solution
coming forward, can you help the District Council be a champion for nature recovery? In this
newly created post, you’ll be ensuring we can make the biggest difference and guiding us to
make the best use of our resources. Working in a small friendly team and based in the historic
cathedral city of Chichester, this role is an opportunity to develop a new strategy from the
start of the process.

You’ll have experience of strategy development and a good working knowledge of landscape scale
ecology and finance for nature-based solutions. You will be confident in dealing with
landowners, NGOs and elected members. You will be able to lead projects, be well organised and
able to participate in the management of a team. You will be an enthusiastic individual who
demonstrates a high level of commitment to protecting and expanding the rich and diverse
habitats of this very special area.
