United Nations Development Programme

Introduction :

Country: Bangladesh

Description of the Assignment:  The United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for 2022-2026 and UNDP’s Country Programme Document (CPD) for 2022-2026 firmly align with the Government’s priorities in the 8th FYP. The UNSDCF asserts that to further strengthen the justice system, support will be provided to improve and digitalise legal aid services, reducing barriers to access for women and marginalised communities. Likewise, UNDP’s CPD commits the organisation to support digital transformation in delivering justice and legal aid services, gender equality, and women’s empowerment (as a cross-cutting priority), including promoting women’s leadership and participation in decision-making. Therefore, this project supports CPD Output 3.1 and 3.2, which promote social cohesion, human rights, equality, non-discrimination, empowerment of women and vulnerable populations, and accountable and gender-responsive governance according to the rule of law.

The EU’s Bangladesh Programming for 2021-2027 also includes a commitment to strengthen justice through Priority Area 3: Inclusive Governance and Specific Objective 2: Improved access to justice, particularly for disadvantaged and marginalised groups in Bangladesh. Accelerating the digitalisation of legal aid services promotes greater access to justice, particularly for women, contributing to SDGs 16 and 5.

Period of assignment/services: 55 working days spread over a period of 03 months.
