BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
Associate to make outbound telephone calls to new MSC customers and enter important customer information into Salesforce. Identifies unique needs of the customer and tailors MSC’S value basket to address these requirements. Schedules or conducts webinar for each new customer called. Associate determines customers calculated potential in products that MSC provides for prompt representative assignment, whether Marketing, Telesales or KASC. Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC’s mission. Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Proactive phone calls into new MSC customers to welcome them to MSC, assist in establishing credit terms, determine customers overall operation, identify key decision makers, register on MSC Direct.com, and determine overall customer potential for rapid assignment into a selling channel.

Successfully hand off new customers to established seller based on customers potential to ensure a smooth transition.

Responsible for the achievement of productivity metrics associated with various sales enablement tools and processes.

Recommends MSC products, services, and solutions via the telephone with the established customer base, utilizing a consultative selling approach.

Captures customer profiles and operational procurement processes to understand and determine potential and to build the prioritization of the call frequency and the penetration plan required.

Identifies opportunities throughout the customer’s environment and leverages strategic resources such as MSC’s Special Services Teams, Strategic Suppliers, and other MSC cross-functional resources to drive improvements and value around customer specific operational and technical needs.

Aligns MSC’s unique insights to key customer priorities, reframing the way customers view their business.

Drives two-way communication and engages the customer by deliberately linking their business priorities to our value proposition.

Understands and influences a wide range of customer stakeholders.

Incorporates economic drivers and has a deep knowledge of customer’s business, current macro- and microeconomic trends, industry trends, and potential new business opportunities.

Qualifies and quantifies the impact of maintaining the status quo or pursuing competitors’ solutions.

Proactively advances the purchase decision without rushing the customer and assesses the customer’s readiness to proceed at each stage of the buying process.

Leverages MSC sales and operational processes, and technology tools to execute activities in support of their customers. fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or the equivalent is required. BA/BS is preferred.

0-2 years sales/customer service experience is preferred.

Metalworking/MRO product and/or process experience preferred.
SKILLS

Basic computer literacy required (word/excel)

Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required.

Solid business acumen and negotiation skills.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Ability to work quickly through complex situations and opportunities.

Excellent time management and organizational abilities.

Proficient with MSCDirect.com and other MSC solutions.

Excellent customer service skills required.

The ability to learn new applications and multi-task.

Effective use of the Microsoft office programs including EXCEL.

Strong presentation skills both internally and externally.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid driver’s license as the position is a hybrid work position in Southfield, MI
Compensation starting at $20 – $31 / hour dependent on candidate location and experience.
The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
