General Duties

  • Coordinates meetings with BPHS, EPHS and other stakeholders
  • Work closely with the nutrition officer to identify and develop nutrition for health to ensure continued awareness of the nutrition guidelines adopted by the health facilities and IRC/MOPH.
  • Work with project staff, to identify the community volunteers on nutrition training on district level
  • Liaising /meetings with community elders and DoPH staff.
  • Keep good coordination & leadership with BPHS and EPHS staff and other stakeholders to ensure safe and meaningful access to related health facilities
  • On job training to staff at the community base nutrition program (CBNP)
  • Supervision from field team in the districts
  • Preparation of supportive supervision plan from the nutrition trainings
  • Preparation of payments and PR requests for all payments concerning the program

Specific Duties:

  • Participate in screening at the triage of children under the age of five to monitor and ensure early detection of malnutrition cases
  • Engage Maharam of under-five clients on nutrition and health services
  • Organizing community meeting in coordination with Community health Assistant on nutrition messaging
  • Participating in community outreach services for adequate nutrition.
  • Will be supporting the admissions of severe malnutrition cases following properly laid down standards. Support referral and payment for referral for SAM clients with complications to inpatient services.
  • To counsel and advise follow-ups/parents/guardians on proper care and nutrition at home.
  • To carry out home visits as a follow up on discharged patients to ensure adherence of the clients on the nutrition programs.
  • Support the EPI department through carrying out routine growth monitoring activities and ensuring that all malnourished children have child health cards
  • Prepare and submit the nutrition reports for community activities and inpatient referrals as guided by the nutrition officer.
  • Participate in monthly meetings with key project staff, field staff meetings, sub-national nutrition cluster meetings, nutrition provincial committees, and other related meetings.
  • Close coordination with stakeholders; PPHD, BPHS, EPHS, and other.
  • Imparting knowledge and skills to staff.
  • Adhering to Professional Code of Conduct and Ethics.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Completed Medical education (MD, or Public Health, or Nurse, or Midwife, or Nutrition) from recognized institute.
  • Certificate of IMAM and MIYCN trainings.

Years of Experience:

  • 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience working in nutrition supervisory and a health care
  • Experience in community engagement
  • Experience in emergency response, including rapid assessments and needs analysis.
  • Experience in hygiene promotion in humanitarian contexts

Skills:

  • Ability to supervise the field staff in implementation of nutrition interventions.
  • Profound cross-cultural awareness and sound knowledge
  • Extremely flexible with teamwork
  • Ability to relate and motivate community to participate in the trainings
  • Creativity and the ability to work with limited resources
  • Technical Competency:
  • Communication and reporting skills
  • Fluency in Pashto, Dari and English
  • Computer skills (including MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet) an advantage
  • Ability to work closely, professionally, and constructively with all others regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe, or cultural background
