As a Nursery Practitioner in Portsmouth, you will play a crucial role in supporting children’s learning and development. You will work closely with the team to provide one-on-one and group support, helping children overcome learning barriers and develop essential skills. Your role will also involve assisting in the preparation of lesson materials, supporting classroom activities, and celebrating each child’s unique achievements!Responsibilities of Nursery Practitioner

• Support Teachers: Collaborate with teachers to create tailored learning plans that address the specific needs of each child. Regularly review and adjust these plans to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
• One-on-One and Group Interventions: Offer individual and small group interventions to help children improve their learning outcomes. Use evidence-based strategies to support children in developing their academic and social skills.
• Encourage Positive Learning: Teach and reinforce effective study techniques, helping children to understand and engage with their studies. Encourage positive interactions and model appropriate behaviour.
• Classroom Support: Work alongside classroom teachers to implement learning strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Support teachers in addressing learning challenges and fostering a culture of respect and cooperation.
• Monitor Progress: Maintain detailed records of children’s progress and any interventions used. Provide regular updates to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties to ensure a coordinated approach to each child’s development.
• Liaise with External Agencies: Ensure that children receive comprehensive support by collaborating with counsellors, social workers, and other professionals to address the broader needs of children and their families.

Requirements of Nursery Practitioner

• Previous experience as a Nursery Practitioner or in a similar role.
• Prior experience in supporting children is essential.
• Demonstrate a deep commitment to helping children, exhibiting patience and empathy.
• Ability to establish and maintain strong, supportive relationships with all members of the school community.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Relevant qualifications or training in early years education are desirable.
• SEN experience is an added bonus.
• University students are encouraged to apply.
