Carmarthenshire County Council has a track record in leading the response to the challenges of nutrient management and its impacts on communities and the environment across large parts of Wales. We are seeking a Nutrient Management and Trading Lead to play a central role in shaping innovative, practical solutions to nutrient pollution—unlocking sustainable development while safeguarding protected marine and river environments.
As Nutrient Management and Trading Lead, you will provide strategic leadership on nutrient neutrality and mitigation across affected catchments, responding directly to the pressures on Marine and riverine Special Areas of Conservation and their implications for development.
You will lead on the design, development and implementation of nutrient credit trading and mitigation mechanisms, helping to enable housing, employment and infrastructure development in a way that is legally compliant, environmentally sound and future‑focused. Working across disciplines—and with partners including NRW, Welsh Government, developers and landowners—you will operate at both strategic and delivery levels.
This role offers genuine scope to shape policy, influence national thinking and create new and innovative systems, maintaining Carmarthenshire’s position at the leading edge of nutrient management.
