Job DescriptionOccupational Health and Safety Assistant – Occupational Health and WellnessThe Occupational Health and Safety Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and organizational support to the Director, Occupational Health and Welness in the Occupational Health and Wellness Department.The incumbent will provide complex and confidential administrative support in a dynamic environment, and will function with a high degree of attention to detail, quality, accuracy and prioritization of work in a team setting. This role will focus on COVID-19 surveillance and provide support in maintaining strict adherence to Public Health guidelines and directives to ensure staff health and safety. While the Occupational Health and Safety Assistant supports individuals, the individual also supports the collective needs of the team and advances a service culture and professionalism that exemplifies Mackenzie Health’s values and guiding principles.What must you have?

  • Successful completion of a Business Administrative Diploma or related discipline from a recognized Community College preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

What else do you bring?

  • 1-3 years relevant experience in an advanced administrative capacity in a healthcare setting.
  • Advanced computer skills, including advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Calendar management experience with an ability to schedule meetings effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Strong customer service skills with an ability to effectively manage multiple priorities with competing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a professional telephone manner.
  • Able to work effectively independently and as member of a team in a busy and varied environment.
  • Excellent organizational, planning and coordination skills.
  • Self-directed, detail oriented and dependable.
  • Collaborative and solutions focused.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others and demonstrates behaviours consistent with Mackenzie Health’s Commitment to Caring.

Preferably, your profile also includes:

  • Experience in Occupational Health and Safety or Public Health.
  • Working knowledge of Parklane System.
