We run strategic capacity building schemes for health professionals in research and offer bespoke career development to individuals, cohorts and communities. All health professionals based at the organisations of King’s Health Partners can access KCATO:

  • King’s College London
  • Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust.
  • King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust

We aim to build clinical academic capacity for all health professions, to provide a central visible contact point for health professionals engaged (or interested) in research, to champion clinical academic careers and to deliver bespoke development sessions to support career progression of our large, diverse community.About the roleWe are seeking a motivated and experienced Operations Assistant to join the KCATO team.The KCATO Operations Assistant will play a key role supporting the delivery of activities and projects from KCATO, and supporting the delivery of an exciting new collaborative initiative that seeks to make research accessible and engaging for students and professionals in health and care – the NIHR INSIGHT South London programme.KCATO Operational Support:You’ll work closely with the KCATO Manager and Programmes Coordinator to support the day-to-day running of the KCATO team and activities. This will include supporting communications activities (e.g. emails, newsletter, website content and social media), events and training (e.g. room bookings, catering, registration processes, feedback), and operational processes (e.g. routine financial procedures, meeting arrangements and support).NIHR INSIGHT South London Programme support:Funded by the NIHR, the INSIGHT for South London Programme, led by King’s College London and co-Lead London South Bank University, offers opportunities for research exposure and training through research masters scholarships, to inspire students and health professionals to enter research and pursue successful research careers. You will work closely with the Programme Director to deliver the programme, playing a key role in coordinating activity across the multiple programme partners.Responsibilities include coordinating the offering of 30 scholarships per year for research masters programmes offered across the partners, including advertising, managing application and selection processes, and working with partners to set up the funding. You’ll also signpost to, and coordinate, innovative engagement opportunities such as networking events, “Meet the Researchers” series, workshops and placements.This is a fixed term position in the first instance ending 01 June 2027, and can be held at 80% – 100% FTE. Please indicate whether you can work part-time or full-time in your application form – current notice period section.This post will be based at offices at the Guy’s campus, including travel to other campuses such as St Thomas’ and Denmark Hill, with a minimum of three days a week on site.About youTo be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:Essential criteria * Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Demonstrable professional experience of effective administration of higher education training, education and/or capacity building programmes, ideally in a research or health setting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels of seniority
  • Effective at working as part of a team, with a proactive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly, with excellent skills in prioritising tasks and organisation
  • Good IT skills, including knowledge and skills in using MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, Sharepoint, Powerpoint, Teams
  • Experience of committee servicing, including organising meetings and taking minutes
  • Experience of gathering and analysing data e.g. survey data

Desirable criteria * Qualification and/or research experience in a health-related subject

  • Experience of designing/delivering research engagement activities
  • Experience of working in a multi-partner collaboration, project or consortium
  • Experience managing finance processes such as expenses claims, processing invoices
  • Experience of comms e.g. websites, newsletters, social media
