Job Summary:
Serving Together for Social Development (STS) is a National NGO working in Somalia. We are dedicated to providing lifesaving relief in emergencies and development assistance to the most vulnerable people recovering from conflict, disaster and impact of climate change.
STS is seeking an Operations Officer to join our team in Mogadishu. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following;
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Planning and Implementation:
- Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the NGO’s programs and services.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, including resource allocation, budget management, and logistics coordination.
- Identify and address operational challenges, and implement solutions to improve organizational efficiency.
Project Management:
- Manage the planning, execution, and monitoring of the NGO’s projects and initiatives.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and ensure the timely completion of project deliverables.
- Develop and maintain project management tools, such as project plans, timelines, and risk assessments.
Facilities and Asset Management:
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and utilization of the NGO’s physical assets, including buildings, equipment, and vehicles.
- Ensure the proper maintenance and security of the organization’s facilities and equipment.
- Manage the procurement and distribution of resources and supplies required for the NGO’s operations.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure the NGO’s operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and donor requirements.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks, and develop contingency plans to address them.
- Coordinate with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure the organization’s compliance and risk management strategies are up-to-date.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Collect, analyze, and report on operational data and metrics to support decision-making and organizational reporting.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of the NGO’s operations, including financial records, project documentation, and donor reports.
- Collaborate with the management team to provide periodic updates on the organization’s operational performance and achievements.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, such as program staff, volunteers, donors, and partner organizations, to facilitate effective communication and coordination.
- Represent the NGO in relevant meetings, events, and forums to promote the organization’s work and build strategic partnerships. Contribute to the development and implementation of the NGO’s communication and outreach strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in a relevant field
- Over 3 years’ experience in a similar role
