OSCE : Driver (G2) – Pristina

JOB DESCRIPTION

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the National Transport and Building Management Officer NPO 2 as a first level supervisor, and Chief General Services Officer S4 as a second-level supervisor, the successful candidate will be tasked with the following duties:

  1. Driving vehicles for the transportation of goods and supplies, and personnel. Picking up and delivering materials and supplies as requested by different departments; Oversees/ is responsible for the loading and unloading of the goods and supplies transported; delivering and collecting mail, documents and other items as instructed by the supervisor; driving a pool vehicle for the transportation of authorized personnel; transporting non-OSCE Mission members as approved by CTU and pursuant the completion of the General Release Form.
  2. Responsible for the maintenance of the assigned vehicle; conducting the daily inspection of the vehicle by checking oil, coolant, battery, brakes, tyres, lights, indicators, damages, equipment, etc.; Referring all the findings to Dispatcher or National Transport and Building Management Officer, asking for instructions; performing minor repairs and sending the vehicle to the workshop for other repairs; certifies the repairs needed by the vehicle on the work order; receiving the vehicle after repair, checking the technical status and certifying it on the work order; ensuring that the vehicle is kept clean.
  3. Recording and reporting the data referring to his/her activity and the use of the vehicle; Completes the daily Trip Ticket by recording all required data, such as driver’s name, passengers’ name and ID, destination, timing, mileage reading, fuel and oil consumption, etc; every day at COB reporting to the dispatcher, changing the Trip Ticket, getting instructions for the next day and leaving the keys of the vehicle in the blue container; reporting to the Dispatcher the start and end KM readings and all the tasks that he/she has undertaken; monitoring MovCon radio channel during the working day and answering to each radio call addressed to him/her;
  4. Ensuring that the steps required by rules and regulations are followed in case of involvement in accident, or in case that the vehicle breaks down. Reporting immediately to Situation Centre / National Transport and Building Management Officer on any Accident/Incident in which he/she has been involved; Undertaking all the actions required by OSCE instructions for such cases;
  5. Acting as interpreter for passengers in matters related to the transportation.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Completed secondary education;
  • Driving license “B” category;
  • Minimum of two years of experience in similar jobs as a professional driver, clean driving record;
  • Established skills in minor vehicle repair and basic self-car maintenance;
  • Ability to make decisions on driving safety issues;
  • Basic computer skills (ability to use email, MS Office);
  • Good command of English language as well as the local languages;
  • In addition, this post requires driving for long periods and lifting of moderately heavy items when loading or unloading baggage or other items;
  • Driver has to accept working overtime and also to perform shift work to late in the night;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities;
  • Ability and willingness to work as a member of team, with people of different cultural, and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;

Remuneration Package:

Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions, is 671.17 Euro/month. Social benefits will include participation in the OSCE group medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund. Appointments are normally made at Step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale. In exceptional cases, an initial appointment at up to Step 3 may be considered. This depends on factors such as relevant experience exceeding minimum requirements or higher previous remuneration. Any such request by a candidate must be reviewed and approved by the OSCE before the appointment.

The mandatory retirement age at the OSCE is 65 years for contracted positions at the general service, professional and director level. The Organization shall apply an age limit of 62 years at the time of appointment as the incumbent selected is normally expected to carry out the contractual obligation of two years.
