Outreach Adviser – Wales

ABOUT US

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. We want to see a world
where trees and woods thrive for people and nature. The Trust engages and inspires people to
make their difference tackling the nature and climate crisis helping protect, restore and
create our vital woods and trees.

THE ROLE

The Woodland Outreach Adviser will focus on inspiring an increase in the restoration and
sustainable management of ancient woodland and temperate rainforest across Wales. This will be
through raising the profile of ancient woodland, managing existing partner relationships, and
forging new ones to develop and deliver a programme of events and activities. Working at scale,
the role will build capacity through working with others including partners and forestry
contractors. The role will also be responsible for working through consultants to deliver
advice and support to landowners. The role will build on our strong history of supporting
landowners, inspiring and enabling them to make a long-lasting impact.

The role will mainly focus on our Dyfi to Dwyryd Treescape in North West / Mid Wales, a
stronghold for Welsh speakers, and will be responsible for communicating the Woodland Trust’s
aims of bringing ancient woods into management. You will bring enthusiasm, and ease of
communication within the land management sector, and an exploratory mind to find solutions to
some of the challenges facing land professionals and local communities.

A company car will be provided for this role.

THE CANDIDATE

The successful candidate will have experience working in the land management sector, in
forestry or woodland conservation, and a working knowledge of land management funding streams
including both grants and markets for wood products. You will have experience of building
partnerships and meaningful working relationships with a range of key stakeholders, including
landowners and land agents, statutory and public bodies, effectively engaging with them so they
are involved and inspired by our work. You’ll be able to deliver through others including
partners, contractors, and professional consultants, ensuring the impact of projects are
maximised. You’ll have a collaborative approach with experience of working with multiple teams
and organisations for a shared purpose.

You will have experience in building partnerships, generating project ideas, and successfully
developing and delivering projects on time and to budget. You will use your excellent
communication skills to represent the Woodland Trust in a professional, competent, and positive
manner to engage and inspire a range of different audiences.

The role will focus mainly on our Dyfi to Dwyryd Treescape in North West / Mid Wales and we
would require the successful candidate to be based in this area with regular travel involved.
