The training is carried out through a combination of courses run at our Global Technical Training Centre of Excellence and on-site training.Our three-year Higher Apprenticeship Overhead Line programme will train you to become an engineer in one of our Overhead Line teams.During the programme you’ll gain comprehensive knowledge of Overhead Lines, the types of conductors, fittings and insulator systems that are installed. You’ll also gain knowledge regarding safety from the system, general safety, overhead line refurbishment & maintenance methods, technical support, 3rd Party requests and fault fixing.This is a job where the decisions you make will impact the transmission of electricity in England and Wales for the next 40 or 50 years. You’ll be involved in delivering maintenance work, replacing and refurbishing assets, and resolving mechanical and electrical issues. Your role will also contribute to connecting renewable energy from sources like wind and solar farms to the transmission network.Eventually, you may even be an Overhead Line Project Leader and taking responsibility for the safety of your co-workersBy the end of the programme, you’ll hold an industry recognised Level 4 qualification, and most importantly, have a job waiting for you!About YouYou must live within 45 minutes of SG9 0JA to be considered for this role.You’re driven, proactive, and always seeking ways to improve.
