If you like the sound of us so far, keep reading to see if you have the experience and skills needed for this rewarding role!About the Role:At the Real Food Kitchen, a team of cooks, kitchen helpers, packers, and Super Drivers help to prepare, pack, and deliver nutritious and delicious meals to feed thousands of kids in the GTA. As a member of the production team, you’ll help support the production staff, and ensure that their tasks are performed effectively and to the highest possible health and safety standards.The Pack Team Lead is responsible for guiding our food packing team in the daily operation of order fulfillment. The Pack Team Lead is accountable for meeting production requirements by effectively leading, and assisting with developing pack team personnel; focussing on safety, quality, production targets, problem solving, and effective communication.Some of the things you’ll get paid to do:Packing
- Facilitates problem solving by actively communicating with Branch Manager, Supply Chain, and Logistics
- Ensure orders are filled accurately and on time
- Ensure daily reports are completed by food packing team
- Collaborate with Production and Supply Chain departments to ensure that staging is completed in a timely manner
- Generate reports and labels for Pack Team
Training & Development
- Coach employees through effective communication, training and recognition
- Ensures that all employees are adequately trained to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner. This includes both backup and cross-training.
- Scheduling training within the Learning Management System
- Update and maintain the department skills matrix
- Actively participate in the development of training documentation
General Responsibilities
- Ensure that best practices are being followed to minimize waste
- Adhere to production plan; assisting in reassignment of personnel; accomplishing goals, establishing priorities, and resolving problems
- Maintains quality service by contributing to the establishment of and adherence to RFRK’s policies and standards
- Ensure proper temperature control of perishable products
- Support First In/First Out product rotation practices are adhered to
- Oversee and ensure proper housekeeping of workspaces, and cleaning and sanitation procedures for pack related machines, equipment
- Timely communication of all pertinent information concerning production, problems, and related action plans with all relevant stakeholders/departments
- Daily collection of data for reporting purposes as directed by manager
- Other tasks as required
- Participate in maintaining a clean workplace by participating in the rotating facility cleaning schedule.
Team Lead Responsibilities
- Ensure employees are working in a safe manner and following health and safety policy and regulations including but not limited to being the first point of contact for any H&S issues when a manager is not present, filling out the appropriate paperwork around incident reporting and offering modified duties.
- Lead team to attain or exceed production goals with the ultimate goal of exceeding customer quality expectations paying close attention to team efficiency, attendance, accuracy and team morale.
- Daily shift handover: effectively communicate with Production Supervisor; summarize the status of all applicable departments, immediate production objectives, food safety, H&S, personnel and equipment concerns.
- Responsible for closing procedures Monday-Thursday
- Ensure all changes made to pack and pack requests are fulfilled
Business Central Administration
- Adhere to Inventory control and movement requirements.
- Generate and print all pack related reports
- Complete fulfillment
- Edit sales lines to reflect pack requests
- Maintain and review replenishment/pick location inventory at end of day
About YouMust-haves
- Min. of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment
- Min. of one (1) year of food production experience
- Min. of one (1) year of experience in a similar role
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Positive attitude, with a passion to get things done right!
- Understanding of food safety
- Ability to work on your feet for an 8-hour shift
- Ability to repetitively lift a minimum of 25 kg (50lbs)
- Ability to work in cold environments (-10 to 4 degrees Celsius)
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Basic math skills, including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Natural alignment with RFRK Food values and mission
