Partnership Specialist: Partnering on Climate Solution Platforms

Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
As the Partnerships Specialist, you will focus on global outbound sales and partnership building, actively driving the consultative sales process and handling all aspects of client engagement from initial outreach to contract closure. This role involves identifying and onboarding city climate data assessment opportunities and fostering strategic partnerships, driving the adoption of the platform in targeted market regions, especially across North and Latin America, and Europe. You will be responsible for managing relationships with sustainability consultants, local city networks and cities to ensure successful implementation and customer satisfaction.
You will be primarily responsible for our partnership task force and work directly with a variety of team members from the Product Team.
This position is remote and international as our organization goes across different time zones.
- Schedule flexibility is expected with a willingness to collaborate in overlapping core hours for meetings from 8 am PST to 11 am PST (GMT-8).
- Time zones in LATAM or availability to work in core LATAM working hours (GMT-3) are preferred.

The ideal candidate: passionate about collaborative technical climate solutions
- Proven success in consultative or solution-based selling, with the ability to identify client needs and align them with product offerings.
- Strong track record of building relationships with decision-makers and closing deals.
- Experience managing diverse client portfolios, preferably across multiple regions (North America, Latin America, and Europe).
- Familiarity with international partnerships and the nuances of working with cities, municipalities, or public institutions.
- Cultural sensitivity and the ability to adapt communication styles to different regions and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple sales cycles simultaneously, from prospecting to contract signing.
- Experience with CRM tools to track leads, manage pipelines, and analyze performance.
- Detail-oriented and organized, capable of handling contracts, purchase decisions, and upgrade processes efficiently.
- Passionate about ensuring customer satisfaction and long-term relationship-building.
- Ability to follow up with clients post-sale to gather feedback, address any issues, and foster continual engagement.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Experience supporting sustainability initiatives within companies or government entities, either as a consultant or internal advisor.
- Proven ability to identify, engage, and cultivate leads, independently building and managing a robust pipeline of potential opportunities.
Responsibilities: building game-changing partnerships, understanding stakeholder needs, crafting win-win collaborations
- Direct outreach through the most relevant channels (email, LinkedIn, conferences) to cultivate partnerships with local city networks, consultants and other strategic partnerships.
- Leading a consultative sales process that identifies the needs of potential customers and aligns CityCatalyst’s capabilities with their goals.
- Providing pre-filled draft GHG inventories and other climate assessment deliverables to interested cities and consultants to demonstrate the platform’s value.
- Conducting live demos to walk potential customers through the platform and answer questions.
- Handling contracts, upgrades, and purchase decisions to streamline the sales process and drive conversions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, International Relations, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in outbound sales, business development, or partnerships (experience in climate tech, SaaS, sustainability consulting or government sectors is a plus).
Skills that will make a candidate stand out:
- Ability to quickly learn the technical aspects of the CityCatalyst platform and effectively communicate its value proposition.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing successful business development strategies in the technology, government or sustainability sectors.
- Experience working with cities, particularly around software and adoption.
- Experience with business development for Open Source products.
- Knowledge of AI and data management technologies, particularly in the context of climate action and sustainability.
- Familiarity with the global climate action landscape and the specific challenges faced by cities, both in the Global North and South.
- Experience in navigating the complexities of international funding and partnership frameworks.
- Commitment to OpenEarth Foundation’s mission and values.
- Innovative thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and strategy development.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (or Portuguese), to support Latin American expansion.
Compensation and benefits:
- This position is full-time with compensation of $60,000 to $85,000 (USD) /year, commensurate with location and experience.
