Peat Project Assistant x2

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust

Peat Project Assistant x 2

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations
and seeks to appoint two Peat Project Assistants – one position is on a permanent contract, and
one is on a fixed term contract until March 2026.

These exciting and varied roles will support the peatland restoration team with surveying
damaged peatlands, preparing restoration plans and maps, monitoring restoration work, and
supporting communications, website and administration tasks.

Key activities of the role include preparation of kit and vehicles for site visits, surveying
peatland erosion and vegetation, mapping peatlands using GIS software and assisting with
administrative tasks for peat projects.

You will need to be comfortable working outside in all weathers, in remote, exposed moorland
locations, for long periods of time. The role will also involve regular office-based
activities, in between site work and during the breeding bird season, therefore some experience
of general office administration systems and working in a busy office environment with a team
of colleagues is desirable. There can also be frequent, short notice changes to the work
schedule and having to manage multiple priorities, and so a flexible approach to work, good
communication with team members and a common-sense approach to problem solving are all
essential.

How to apply:

Please submit an up-to-date CV and supporting statement. When writing your supporting
statement, please refer to the person specification within the job description, and ensure you
describe your relevant knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the role. Ideally, your CV
and supporting statement should be in an editable format, such as Word, so we can anonymise
your documents prior to the short-listing process. Please DO NOT include any personal details
(name, address etc) on your supporting statement.

Closing date: 2nd October 2024 at 09:00
Interview date: 17th & 18th October

Please note that applications received after the closing deadline may not be considered. The
Trust regrets that it is unable to give feedback on unsuccessful applications.
