Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organization. We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through unarmed civilian protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence and protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath and to help transform the world’s response to conflict situations.

Job Purpose

The People Manager will be a key support to the Global Head of People, Culture, and HR in driving strategic HR initiatives and implementing HR strategies across the organization. This role focuses on operational excellence, mentoring HR teams, and fostering a high-performing, inclusive, and values-driven culture. Acting as a bridge between HQ and country-level HR teams, the People Manager ensures alignment and collaboration.

By enhancing NP’s ability to attract, retain, and develop top talent, the People Manager plays a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s mission and strengthening its HR function.

Scope

  • Collaborate with the Global Head to ensure the effective implementation of NP’s HR strategy across country programs and HQ.
  • Providing operational guidance and mentorship.
  • Support organizational growth by harmonizing HR practices, policies, and systems across all entities.

Key Objectives/Responsibilities

HR Operations and Oversight:

  • Lead the implementation of HR initiatives, ensuring consistency and compliance across country programs.
  • Monitor and optimize HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and payroll.
  • Oversee the development of harmonized HR policies, ensuring they align with NP’s values and legal requirements.
  • Actively participate in innovative HR initiatives to support organizational growth and employee engagement.

Team Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Provide mentorship to HR Managers and Officers in country programs.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture across HR teams.
  • Build the capacity of HR teams to deliver high-quality support to their respective programs.

Culture and Values:

  • Champion NP’s culture and values, ensuring they are reflected in all HR practices and policies.
  • Support initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization.

Talent Development:

  • Support the design and delivery of training and development programs to enhance staff capacity.
  • Collaborate with the Global Head to develop succession plans and career pathways for key roles.

Thought Partnership:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Global Head, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Provide insights on HR trends, challenges, and opportunities to inform organizational strategy.

Qualifications and Competencies

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. HR certification a plus.
  • At least 5 years of HR management experience, preferably in an international or multi-country context.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices, including compliance, recruitment, and talent development.
  • Experience mentoring and managing HR professionals in diverse cultural settings.
  • Experience with Human Resource Systems (HRS) or employee management software is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and act as a thought partner to senior leaders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and French.

  • The salary range for this position is 90’000 CHF to 99’000 CHF/month gross
