PhD Analytical Chemist required, based in Cheshire on a permanent basis. Requiring a PhD in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry, with method development experience and a broad range of knowledge of analytical techniques including GC-MS, LC-MS, NMR, wet chemistry and/or ICP-MS.Title: PhD Analytical ChemistLocation: CheshireSalary: £34,000 – £40,000 (dependent on experience)Employment Term: PermanentSRG are working with a multinational company who specialise in the creation of speciality chemicals for a range of markets. They are now looking to add an Analytical Chemist to their Analytical team on a permanent basis, based at their site in Cheshire. This role will involve developing analytical solutions to complex problems involved in Research and Development (R&D), reporting data to a wide range of audiences as well as maintaining and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation. Candidates with a recent PhD in Chemistry (or similar) are encouraged to apply, although applications are welcome from candidates who don’t hold a PhD, but instead have significant proven industrial experience of method development.Benefits: An analytical role in a highly respected, multi-national company, with significant intellectual property potential and commercial impact. 37.5 hours, Mon-Fri, flexible working hours. - Developinganalytical methods to support in solving complex R&D problems
- Analytical techniques include GC-(MS), LC-(MS), GPC, NMR, Wet chemistry, thermal analysis, microscopy and ICP-MS
- Supporting in the validation of analytical methods
- Reporting data to a wide range of audiences including both technical and non-technical
- Analysing and reporting of results of analysis
- Supporting in the maintenance, troubleshooting and upkeep of analytical techniques
- Providing support and mentoring of apprentice laboratory technicians
Requirements
- PhD in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry
- Experience of developinganalytical test methods includingGC-(MS), LC-(MS),GPC,NMR, Wet chemistry, thermal analysis, microscopy andICP-MS
- A broad understanding of a range of analytical techniques is key also
- Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication skills
