Reference: FAB3We are looking to recruit two high calibre and enthusiastic PhD researchers who will undertake original research at Nottingham University Business School. To this end, we have made available two full scholarships, which are aimed at one international and one home PhD students. The international scholarship will cover tuition fees of £23,500 and a yearly stipend of £19,237, while the home scholarship will cover tuition fees of £5,350 and a yearly stipend of £19,237. Both these PhD scholarships are for a period of three years and are expected to commence on 1st February 2025.The school has eight departments and offers PhD pathways in the following four areas:

  • Business and Management
  • Business and Society
  • Finance and Risk
  • Industrial Economics

The eight departments have outlined their strategic research topic areas, which are:

  • Corporate governance and Climate Reporting (Accounting)
  • AI-Enhanced Sustainable Finance and Risk Management (Finance, Risk and Banking)
  • Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation (Hyden Green Institute)
  • Contemporary issues in Industrial Economics (Industrial Economics)
  • Marketing for the greater good (Marketing)
  • Sustainable work and employment (Organisational Behaviours and Human Resource Management)
  • Contemporary Supply Chain Management to enhance sustainability and/or resilience (Operations Management and Information Systems)
  • Sustainability in Business (Strategy and International Business)

We suggest that you recommend a potential supervisor in your application and, if possible contact this potential supervisor to discuss your project before your submission. Details of how to apply are given below and should include a research proposal clearly outlining how applicants intend to undertake excellent original research in one or more (if interdisciplinary) of the strategic topic areas listed above.How to applyApplicants should have:

  • A 2.1 or higher honours degree in a relevant discipline in social sciences, and
  • A master’s degree which includes a substantial research element, with a score of 65% or above in the taught modules and 65% or above in the dissertation.

  • Transcripts of all your academic qualifications. If you have not completed your master’s degree yet, you should include a transcript of the marks received to date. Any offer is conditional upon achieving the required standard.
  • 2 academic references.
  • English language test result if English is not your first language.

  • The quality of your research proposal.
  • The fit of your research area with potential supervisors.

  • Your personal statement.
