Your Opportunity:Description:Physician Assistant duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Conducting patient interviews and histories. Performing advanced, focused, and/or comprehensive health assessments. Order, interpret, and perform diagnostic tests. Formulate differential diagnosis through the integration of patient information and evidence informed practice. Prescribe and distribute pharmaceuticals without co-signature within an AHS setting. (On April 1, 2021, Physician Assistants became fully regulated health professionals in Alberta) PAs are able to prescribe and write orders within the AHS setting. Any orders/prescriptions to a community pharmacy require physician co-signature. Similarly, PAs cannot prescribe level 1 or 2 pharmaceuticals on the Triplicate Prescription Program. Arrange follow-up and/or transfer of patients appropriate to the service. Communicate assessment findings and/or diagnoses including outcomes and prognoses to patients/families. Develop, communicate, and implement plans of care including performing and/or assisting with invasive and non-invasive Interventions, treatments, and procedures. Counselling on preventive health care. Coordinate and facilitate care for patients with other health care providers, agencies, and community resources. Provide emergent/urgent decisions in the complex management of patients including, but not limited to, the stabilization for the critically ill. Document the provision of care for patients.
Required Qualifications:Graduation from a recognized Physician Assistant Education Program. A certified Physician Assistant with one of the following credentials: Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA), granted by the Physician. Assistants Certification Council of the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants, or Physician Assistant. Certified (PA-C), granted by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants in the United States of America. Registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
