Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityReporting to the Health Services Manager, Primary Health Care, Chronic Disease Management and Wellness, the physiotherapist will utilize behavior change methods, case management and client centered approaches in individual or group settings. The incumbent is team focused and will collaborate with Primary Health Care staff, family physicians, other health care providers and community groups. He/she provides guidance and support for clients, including providing information about appropriate supports and programs that will meet health and wellness needs and social supports that can assist with daily living. The individual is responsible for exercise program development, implementation and evaluation and must possess excellent leadership skills. The incumbent is a member of a highly collaborative inter-disciplinary team and collaborates with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participates in the evaluation of team effectiveness, solves problems, and shares responsibilities. The role includes completing intake assessments and facilitating group exercise programs. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The incumbent will be required to travel to work in various community locations throughout the zone.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy from an accredited university
- Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists
- Must be eligible for membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
- Experience providing group exercise prescriptions or other community programming recommended.
- Experience working as a member of a collaborative interdisciplinary team.
- Valid driver’s license and daily access to a reliable car for travel for work, required to work at multiple sites and travel between various community locations throughout the catchment area.
- ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Exercise Specialist Certification or CSEP an asset
- Preferred experience in partnership development, stakeholder collaboration, and community development
- Understanding of population health, health promotion strategies, and behavior change principles
- In-depth knowledge of local district health authority and community based services.
- Demonstrates person-centered / family-focused, diversity relevant approaches to care
- Well developed interpersonal, teamwork, oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrates flexibility, adaptability and willingness to change
- Demonstrates innovation in program planning, implementation and evaluation, and quality improvement, planning skills
- Computer skills (MS Office, e-mail and internet)

- Annual CPR-AED certification and annual WHMIS training and certification
